Review in the Knoxville Mercury: Storm Fizzles, Demirjian and KSO Dazzles
My review of last week’s Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Masterworks concerts featuring guest conductor Aram Demirjian and violinist Philippe Quint can be found in this week’s Knoxville Mercury, online here. That concert featured works by John Adams, Ligeti, Bruch, and Beethoven.
Arts Knoxville was created by Alan Sherrod in 2014 following the closure of the alternative weekly Metro Pulse, a publication on which he had been the classical music writer since 2007. He was the classical and new music writer for the Knoxville Mercury from its launch in March 2015 until its closure in July 2017. He has also contributed music content to the Nashville Scene and other publications around the U.S, including the website, Classical Journal.
Mr. Sherrod was a recipient of a 2010 Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts — the Arts Journalism Institute in Classical Music and Opera — under the auspices of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
