This Weekend: Knoxville Opera’s ‘Hansel and Gretel’

For reasons of history, one typically finds productions of Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel around Christmastime. Truthfully, though, anytime is a good time for this gorgeously engaging opera based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale of two children ensnared by an evil witch.

Knoxville Opera presents the opera in English this weekend in two performances at the Tennessee Theatre–Friday evening and a Sunday matinee. Look for my preview in this week’s Knoxville Mercury. Tickets and Information.
