Because of the heartbreaking shutdown of Knoxville’s alt-weekly Metro Pulse by its parent company, E.W. Scripps, I will, in the short term, be using this companion blog, Arts Knoxville, as the host for my local classical music coverage. Check back regularly or follow the blog to be apprised of current articles. Up first will be a review of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s concert pair this week that features Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The guest conductor is Sameer Patel. Look for that review on Saturday.
Thanks for reading and supporting classical music in Knoxville. And please feel free to share this news with others.
And one request–if you see a former Metro Pulse writer or editor wandering the streets of Downtown, thank them for what a remarkable newspaper it once was, and for what Metro Pulse once meant to Knoxville’s revitalization.
