Two new exhibitions open at the Knoxville Museum of Art on Friday, January 30, and both run through April 19.
Contemporary Focus is an annual exhibition series that features regional artists whose appeal reaches far beyond the region. This year’s exhibition consists of three artists: Caroline Covington, Mira Gerard, and Karla Wozniak. Covington is assistant professor of sculpture at Chattanooga State Community College. Gerard is chair and associate professor in the Department of Art & Design at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Wozniak lives in Knoxville where she is assistant professor of painting at the School of Art, University of Tennessee.
Lift: Contemporary Printmaking in the Third Dimension “examines the work of established and emerging international contemporary artists who use a variety of strategies to bring a sculptural dimension to printmaking.” Artists include Enrique Chagoya, Lesley Dill, Robert Gober, Red Grooms, Hideki Kimura, Nicola Lopez, Oscar Munoz, Leslie Mutchler, Marilene Oliver, Dieter Roth, Graciela Sacco, and Jonathan Stanish.
