We’re just now hearing about the Public Cinema Series at the Knoxville Museum of Art–but if you gravitate toward cinema art, you will want to put this bi-weekly series on your Sunday to-do list.
The free-admission program on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. features two pieces from 2013: The Strange Little Cat by German director Ramon Zurcher and Sun Song by the American director Joel Wanek.
According to their website, the Public Cinema “exists to share vital works of contemporary international and American cinema—works that might otherwise be unseen or overlooked by Knoxville audiences. Many of the films we screen are discoveries from the festival circuit; some will be Tennessee or regional premieres. Whatever we screen, our only agenda is to create a space for cinema as an art form and to promote discussion among discerning moviegoers.”
Their announced schedule continues at the KMA this month and next. We can only hope for more.
