German tenor Gerhard Siegel makes an appearance in Knoxville on Monday evening, November 23, courtesy of the University of Tennessee School of Music and their ongoing series of guest artist recitals.
American audiences saw him as Mime in the Metropolitan Opera’s productions of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, specifically Das Rheingold and Siegfried. Recently he recorded a new CD together with pianist Gabriel Dobner which has been released by PROFIL Edition Günter Hänssler with songs by Arnold Schoenberg, Richard Strauss and Kurt Hessenberg. His Knoxville recital contains these as well as works by Franz Schubert (selections from Schwanengesang) and Hugo Wolf (selections from Mörike Lieder).
