In this week’s Knoxville Mercury, I review last weekend’s concerts by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra that opened the 2016-17 season. The concert was the debut of the KSO’s new music director and conductor, Aram Demirjian, and featured works by Rachmaninoff (Piano Concerto No. 3 with Orion Weiss) and Tchaikovsky (Symphony No. 5).
