Inner Voices String Quartet (L to R) Janine Wilkinson, cello; Rachel Loseke, violin; Ruth Bacon Edewards, violin; Christina Graffeo, viola
It is a very positive sign when new classical music ensembles form and reach out to find new audiences. Inner Voice String Quartet is just such an ensemble—only a year old—and one that seeks to explore alternative venues and different listening experiences. The quartet consists of Rachel Loseke and Ruth Bacon Edewards (violins), Christina Graffeo (viola), and Jeanine Wilkinson (cello). On Friday evening of this week (January 13, 2017, 8 PM), they are offering a performance titled “Barber at the Hair Salon” in the satisfyingly quirky venue of GEO HAIR LAB at Gay Street and Fifth Avenue downtown. The quartet will perform Samuel Barber’s String Quartet, along with works by Ravel, Debussy, Haydn, and J.S. Bach.
