“Young” has been a key word in the 2019 Evelyn Miller Young Pianist Series recitals. Following last month’s recital by 17-year-old Ray Ushikubo, the series wraps up this month with 18-year-old Elliott Wuu on Sunday, March 10.
Wuu, a native of Fremont, California, began piano studies at age six. Through high school he was a scholarship student at the San Francisco Conservatory Pre-College, preparing him to make a debut at age 16 with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, winning First Prize winner in the 2015 Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists. Wuu is currently a piano performance student at The Juilliard School, studying under Robert McDonald.

Wuu has performed in major venues in the U.S., France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, Romania and China. In NYC, Wuu performed at the United Nations Headquarters in the presence of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, at the WQXR Greene Space, and at Carnegie Hall for the Grammy’s Salute to Classical Music concert. His performances was aired on WQXR. Wuu was also featured in the NPR’s From the Top program broadcasted nationwide. Other notable venues include Holywell Music Room where Haydn performed before, Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and the Ravinia Festival.
