Auditions for the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Middle/East Tennessee District were held on Saturday, January 4 at McAfee Concert Hall at Belmont University in Nashville. The auditions yielded four winners who will advance to the Southeast Regional MONC auditions to be held at Spivey Hall at Clayton State University in Atlanta on February 2.
The winners are:
• Key’mon W. Murrah, countertenor
• Miguel Angel Ortega, tenor
• Amanda Palmeiro, soprano
• Laureano Quant, bass-baritone
Soprano Amanda Palmeiro has a local connection. She received her Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2012.
