It has been three and a half months since our last Miscellany, the absence reflecting the lack of substantial art and music news to report. Unfortunately, the pandemic is not over and the necessary vigilance in keeping ourselves and others safe must continue. But there are a few things to report, even if theatre and music hall seats must remain empty a while longer.
First, some happy, but ironic Arts Knoxville news to report.
Despite the fact that performance news and reviews have been a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic, readership on Arts Knoxville has grown almost exponentially since March, thanks to arts and music people hungry for information and entertainment suggestions. In fact, this month of June, 2020, has seen the most readers in a month since we re-launched in August, 2017. Thanks so much to our loyal readers for keeping us sane during this trying time!

The Big Ears Festival has announced their tentative plans for the 2021 Festival. In his email announcement, Ashley Capps wrote: “Our primary goal has been to offer TWO Big Ears weekends in 2021 — each with a unique lineup and program of its own — combining as much of the programming scheduled for for 2020 as possible with many new programs that were already in the works…The two weekends we have in mind are March 18-21 and March 25-28; however it will be several weeks – perhaps until late August or early September – before we know for certain if those weekends are actually feasible.”
Check the Big Ears Festival website for current information.
