Beginning this weekend, music-deprived audiences of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will once again be able to attend live performances in downtown’s Tennessee and Bijou Theatres—albeit on a limited seating basis.
Following a painful year of public concerts canceled by precautions taken to address the Covid-19 pandemic, the KSO, venues, and local health officials, have arrived at a carefully considered plan that allows a limited number of audience members inside the theatres. The obvious precautions will be in place, including socially-distanced seating, required masks, and temperature checks on entrance. Ticketing will be by electronic means, as will be the program booklets. We have been told that the air handling systems in both theatres has been upgraded with new technology to address the concerns raised by the pandemic.
The KSO will continue to livestream all concerts through the remainder of this spring season. Each concert will also be available on demand for 30 days after its initial airing.
