This Saturday, May 1, 8:00 PM — KSO and KJO
As part of their Pops Series at the Tennessee Theatre this Saturday evening, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra is joining with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra in a concert that will feature several key members of the KJO. Included are Mark Tucker, alto saxophone; Greg Tardy, tenor saxophone; Stewart Cox, trumpet; Mark Boling, guitar; Bill Swann, piano; Tommy Sauter, bass; Keith Brown, drums, along with 30 members of the Knoxville Symphony’s strings, winds, brass and percussion.
Highlights of the concert will include selections from the classic album Charlie Parker with Strings featuring Mark Tucker on alto saxophone, a brand new original composition from tenor saxophonist Greg Tardy, as well as three Donald Brown compositions, arranged by Vance Thompson and Sam Adams especially for this concert.
There is limited seating in the Tennessee Theatre available due to Covid-19 distancing. Those wishing to attend in-person should call the KSO box office at 865-291-3310.

This Sunday, May 2, 2:00 PM — Knoxville Opera, “Not Quite Opera”
Knoxville Opera needs your support in these trying times for the arts. To that end, the Knoxville Opera Guild, the support arm of KO, is hosting a virtual performance Sunday afternoon May 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm. This virtual performance will include a variety of Knoxville Opera’s favorite performers, entertaining us with musical talents that are “NOT QUITE OPERA.” Performances will run the gamut of both entertaining and slightly unusual acts.
Ticket options are available in different “areas” of the virtual concert hall. From individual “seats,” “row hosts,” and sponsorships of various levels, there are many opportunities to contribute.
