Perhaps avoidable, but now undeniably inevitable, the major downtown Knoxville live performance venues—the Tennessee and Bijou Theatres—have updated their entry requirements to reflect the need and importance of Covid-19 vaccinations in preventing further spread of the virus. Effective immediately, and continuing into the fall, the venues will require attendees to show either a vaccination record indicating a completed series OR a verified negative COVID-19 test result taken in the last 3 days, both matched to a photo ID.
Regardless of vaccination status, the venues will be requiring that masks be worn at all times except when actively eating or drinking inside the venues. This will affect performances by all organizations and entertainment entities that perform in either of the two venues, including the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra as well as touring acts. Both venues have enabled refund mechanisms for those already holding tickets who are unable to comply with the updated requirements.
