The Knoxville Museum of Art is launching a newly re-designed Friday evening concert series, Soundscapes at the KMA, beginning this Friday evening, December 8, and continuing monthly through August. Formerly known as “Alive After Five,” the new series promises to take a fusion approach to its evening of music and art. Enthusiasts may take in the curated performances in Bailey Hall, enjoy food and drink, or explore the KMA galleries with music heard throughout the museum’s spaces.
The inaugural program this week is titled “My Favorite Things”. The performing ensemble will feature Miami saxophonist Ron James, Atlanta-based bassist Teja Veal, and Memphis guitarist Cameron Moore, drummer Tre Harris, and vocalist Jasmine Evans. The evening host is keyboardist, Brian Clay. Doors open at 6:30 PM with music beginning at 7:00 PM. Food will be available for purchase from a local food vendor and there will be a Cash Bar for drinks. The KMA galleries remain open until 8pm.
