Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Knoxville Jewish Community Family of Funds, Amadeus Concert Ensemble is presenting a free community-wide CHANUKAH MUSIC FEST concert under the direction of Maestro Brian Salesky on Sunday, December 8 at 4:00 PM at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center at 6800 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN.
The concert program, devoted to music about Chanukah–The Festival of Lights. features three centuries of musical styles and is divided into five sections, each holding a special significance to the holiday: Chanukah Menorah Ceremony, Ladino Hanuka Kantikas, Yiddish Chanike Lieder, Honoring the Maccabees, and Chanukah Folksongs.
The quartet of vocal soloists will be led by Puerto Rican soprano Abigail Santos Villalobos who has been heard in leading operatic roles with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, San Diego Opera, Arizona Opera, and Fort Worth Opera. She will be joined by alto Diana Salesky, tenor John Overholt, baritone Joel Brown, and the Stanford Eisenberg Knoxville Jewish Day School Choir.
Participants also include Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon and Keith Barber, President of the East Tennessee Foundation.
