For many, spring time and Knoxville Opera’s Rossini Festival are synonymous. This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, April 12, 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday, April 13, Noon to 7:00 PM, on streets and squares in Downtown Knoxville.
The Rossini Festival is the annual International Street Fair that is a glorious celebration of the arts in all its many forms, while providing delicious encounters with a wide array of food and drink. The festival has evolved into a two-day affair with entertainment on four outdoor stages embracing opera and classical music, Broadway, pop, jazz, gospel, and a myriad of other genres. Movement, too, proliferates through the festival with performances of ballet, modern, and ethnic dance. One can wander and browse through the offerings of food vendors and over 75 area merchandise artisans. The Y FunZone keeps children entertained. More than half a million residents of Knox County and the surrounding area have enjoyed the Rossini Festival over the years. Of course, the Festival is FREE to attend.
